Year-end Book Report Kites
(Appropriate for grades 2-4)

Items needed:
Poster board
Crayons or markers
Scissors
String, streamer, ribbon or yarn
Instruct students to create a kite square by cutting a piece of poster board in half. They then section the kite into four separate squares. In each section of the kite, the student draws a scene from his or her book (keeping the scenes in sequential order). This ordering will help the student to choose the four most important events in the book. Students color and decorate their kites and finally attach string, streamer, ribbon or yarn as a tail to their tale!

Hang from the ceiling throughout the classroom for a wonderful display or send home for a special summer reminder of reading achievement.
